Incoming Exchange students
Zuyd University of Applied Sciences offers interesting opportunities for international exchange programmes, including the Erasmus+ programme, the Magellan Exchange and bilateral exchange agreements with international partners. Students can apply for a complete study year or just one semester. Fall semester: September – end of January (30 ECTS) Spring semester: February – end of June (30 ECTS). Normally they will be placed in the third year.
Within the regular Design Programs Body, Object or Material, students can choose optional subjects like Ceramic, screenprinting, technical drawing, 3D printing, Lasercutting, metal, welding, goldsmith techniques, pattern design, patternmaking/coupe, wood, sewing, weaving, machine knitting etc. You will find the full study program and the list of optional subjects here!
At MAFAD it is important that you take full responsibility for your studies. In various projects, you will be working on your own or in groups with your fellow students. As an exchange student, you should be highly motivated and self-propelled. All courses are taught in Dutch, however you will be able to get instructions by the tutor or your fellow students in English.

How does it work?
If your institution has an Inter Institutional Agreement with the Maastricht Academy of Fine Arts and Design (Please note: We are part of Zuyd University of Applied sciences) you can apply for an exchange period at our academy. If that is not the case, please contact us by e-mail.
The Erasmus+ code for Fine Arts and Design Maastricht is: NL HEERLEN 14.
In order to be admitted, you need official documents (ask for information at your institute).
Incoming exchange students can enroll through our online application system Osiris and are required to upload:
- Learning Agreement
- Application form
- Copy of a valid passport/ID
- Digital Motivation letter and portfolio
If you wish to apply for the academic year 2019-2020: The deadline for the Fall semester is 30th of April 2019. The deadline for the Spring semester is the 15th of November 2019.
Incoming exchange students have to submit an online application through Osiris (study information system)
